Fighting for Benefits
Michael was initially denied unemployment benefits but found eligible on appeal. He had received $13k that he paid back to the VEC before the appeal outcome because he was afraid of collection. With the appeal being overturned, Michael should have been paid back this $13k, but the VEC refused because of administrative issues.
After going back and forth with the VEC for more than a year, his attorney was able to escalate the issue to the VEC’s UI Director and not only get our client’s $13k back, but an additional $6.6k he was owed.
“Words cannot fully capture how grateful I am for all the help you’ve provided me. Not only did you manage to secure the full $13,076 that was rightfully owed to me, but your correspondence and meetings with the VEC resulted in the finding of an additional $6,610 that I had no idea I was eligible for. Your expertise and dedication with this and with the previous legal help you have given me have made a profoundly positive difference in my life.” -Statement from Michael
